Filing a claim after tornado damage

Tornadoes often cause widespread destruction, leveling and demolishing homes and businesses.

As an Indiana landowner, your standard homeowners or business insurance policy likely covers damage caused by tornadoes. However, it is important to file a claim quickly, for a couple of different reasons.

Read your policy and check for deadlines

First, there is probably a deadline by which to file your claim. Review your policy carefully and look at the claim filing deadlines.

Next, if you are a business owner, the damage done may prevent you from reopening your business for quite some time. You need compensation from your policy as soon as possible to help you cover your losses and repair your damage to get your business up and running again.
